Our Story
Excelsior Community College (ECC) is the first and largest community college in Jamaica. It is the tertiary arm of the Excelsior Education Centre (EXED), which was developed as a community institution to provide educational training and services “from the cradle to the grave.” The EXED family of schools comprises the Primary School and Infant, Secondary High School, and the Community College.
MoEYI K-13 Sixth-Form Integration Scholarship Programme
The EXED Academy, the newest arm of Excelsior Community College (ECC), was created with the specific goal to implement the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information (MoEYI) Sixth Form Integration Scholarship Programme (also called the K — 13 Strategy). Under this initiative by the MoEYI, the EXED Academy would manage and offer Early College Programmes (Certificates, Diplomas & Occupational Associate Degrees) to fifth form graduates at four of our campuses. Each current fifth (5th) form student will be given a two-year scholarship from the MoEYI.
Pathway 1
Sixth Form Pathway I (Traditional) City and Guilds Engineering, Occupational Associate Degrees, CAPE Associate Degrees or ECC Bachelors Degrees.
Pathway 2
Sixth Form Pathway II (Technical) NVQJ, City and Guilds (Math/English) or 1 CAPE/CSEC and/or Occupational Associate Degrees.
Admissions
Matriculation Requirements:
• Pathway ONE - Five (5) CSEC subjects including both Mathematics and English Language.
• Pathway TWO - At least one (1 ) CSEC subject, NVQ - I, CVQ or City and Guilds English and/or Mathematics Stage 3. Where a student fails to have any one of the above qualifications, student will be required to sit the HEART Diagnostic Test and obtain a minimum mark of 25 (out of 60 marks) in both Mathematics and English.
• Pathway THREE - No entry requirements.
*All programmmes are fully sponsored by the Ministry of Education.
*Certificates will be provided upon completion of course.

Our early college programmes are significantly subsidized enabling high school graduates to access scholarships aligned to the most suitable pathway. Education represents a foundation pillar to the holistic development of a person. On this premise access to higher education opportunities is a priority for the team at the EXED Academy. Efficiency in service, alignment with quality standards and monitoring systems are in place to ensure that the stakeholders can observe a return on investment. The Ministry of
Education and Youth (MoEY), parents, guardians, facilitators and most centrally the learners are critical to the output of an educational investment. The learning experience of the students of the EXED Academy will be significantly impacted through intentional personal development, co-curricular and academic pursuits. The unit engenders a positive and nurturing environment for those that are a part of this school community.
